Electronic Charts
The mandatory use of ENCS for all commercial vessels over 500 GT (for passenger vessels) or 3,000GT (all others) is progressively taking effect with an implementation end date of 2018. Smaller vessels and private vessels may continue using unofficial ENCs or paper charts.
Riviera-Charts distribute ENCs from the ADMIRALTY and Primar as well as private digital charts from CMAP, Transas and Navionics.
AVCS
AVCS is the ADMIRALTY brand for ENCs. The ADMIRALTY Vector Chart Service (AVCS) brings together Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) from national Hydrographic offices around the world and new ENC coverage produced by UKHO in co-operation with Foreign Governments to provide comprehensive, official, worldwide coverage.
AVCS charts are available for purchase through Riviera-Charts and are supported by electronic delivery of updates and new editions either directly to ships via the Novaco e-distribution services via satellite broadcast or via custom email updates.
PRIMAR
PRIMAR offers a comprehensive ENC database that meets IMO SOLAS chart and carriage requirements when kept up to date and used on type-approved ECDIS systems. The Primar database includes ENCs from its member states, a number of hydrographic offices (HOs) which are not members of the RENC as well as ENCs from IC-ENC. Primar ENCs provide full coverage of Europe, cross-Atlantic and short-sea shipping areas as well as extensive coverage in Asia. The Novaco update services support ENCs distributed by Primar.
